A Multinational Community Choir
Keen to broaden your choral experience?
Vocālis is Auckland’s multilingual community choir. Based in our nation’s largest city and sharing a passion for singing with others has transformed us into a diverse, multinational choir with a repertoire including a variety of musical genres and nearly 20 different languages!
We aren’t your standard community choir. Our two professional musical directors continually hone our musicality and provide expert vocal tuition during our weekly rehearsals.
Check us out!
We encourage you to come along to a few rehearsals so we can get to know each other and see if we’re the right choir for you.
We rehearse on Thursday evenings from 7:30-9:30pm in the main reception building at One Tree Hill College, 421-451 Great South Road, Penrose. Contact us to arrange a suitable time to check us out.
Different ways we connect
Thursdays at One Tree Hill College, main reception building at 421-451 Great South Road, Penrose.
We begin each rehearsal with vocal warm-ups and exercises to extend our range and improve our tone. It’s loads of fun! And when running through songs, we work on timing, breath support, dynamics, phrasing and musicality. It’s like having a group singing lesson with your friends.
7:30 – 9:30 pm
Mostly around Auckland and occasionally out of town. Contact us to make a booking!
As a registered not-for profit group, we direct much of our concert earnings towards other charities and have also set up a scholarship fund for our One Tree Hill College music students to help further their musical qualifications or provide additional funding to their music department.
Approx 4 per year
Connecting with others outside of our musical norm and enjoying spending time together!
Be it picnics, BBQs, a Christmas Cabaret or a meal at the pub, hanging out helps keep our community together. We are a diverse group of people who have found that sharing a love of choral singing and the challenge of singing in different languages opens many doors to new friendships!
